GWU – Umwelttechnik GmbH (GWU) provides sensors and systems for wind and wind profile measurement and meteorology applications. GWU offers individual sensors, complete systems and also complete service packages, for example, for onsite field measurement. In addition, GWU offers a LiDAR-trailer for transporting, receiving and operating a Doppler Wind LiDAR measurement system (WINDCUBE v2) of Leosphere (France), which is powered by an EFOY Pro 2400 (corresponds to latest fuel cell generation EFOY Pro 2800) and a solar system.
Usually no mains power is available at the wind and wind profile measurement. In winter our energy demand increases by the use of a heater. Reliability via Solar is not guaranteed any more.
The EFOY Pro 2800, the latest fuel cell generation, is the ideal power supply solution for this application.
“Various advantages”
The EFOY Pro fuel cell provides various advantages over all other off-grid energy supplies. It is weather independent, maintenancefree, environmentally friendly and provides the LIDAR, as well other peripherals and the heating, with reliable power 24/7 all year long. It can be ensured at any time that the data will be collected without any gaps.
Mr Timo Schröder, Service engineer GWU Umwelttechnik GmbH
The EFOY Pro is in hybrid use with up to 4 solar panels in a weatherproof HPS (hybrid power solution) developed by GWU Umwelttechnik and the SFC partner Udomi.
Currently we are using 100 systems with EFOY Pro fuel cells which are all combined with solar panels.
Generally the Doppler Wind LIDAR measuring systems remain up to one year at the measuring location. The off-grid power supply is very reliable in all weather conditions due to the EFOY Pro fuel cells of SFC Energy. The fuel cell enables an autonomous operation of the system without any user intervention, thus making a significant contribution to the reduction of operating and logistical costs.
