The EFOY & EFOY Pro Fuel Cell constantly monitor the level of charge of the battery and automatically charge it to the ideal level to maximize your battery’s useful life. This means your application is always reliably supplied with power. The fuel cell produces power in any weather, at all times of the year, everywhere. The EFOY Pro’s high reliability in generating power reduces operating costs. Furthermore, downtimes due to maintenance are prevented, because of the lack of moving parts in SFC EFOY Fuel Cells compared to conventional diesel generators.
EFOY & EFOY Pro Fuel Cells supply off-grid power for months – without any user intervention. Our fuel cells use methanol – an alcohol with an extremely high energy density. Ten litres of methanol contain 11.1 kWh of energy. Four 28 litre fuel cartridges can power a 50 W device autonomously for about 26 weeks. The specific energy density of methanol is extremely high and is even higher than compressed hydrogen.
During operation, the sole by-products are small quantities of carbon dioxide and water. Thanks to environmentally friendly power generation, the EFOY & EFOY Pro can be used in nature reserves as well as in closed vehicles and rooms. The EFOY Fuel Cells are equally suitable for covert investigations, thanks to their low-vibration, quiet operation without heat generation.
EFOY & EFOY Pro Fuel Cells generate reliable power for periods of weeks or months, they are fully automatic and emission-free and they can be installed covertly and safe from vandalism. Some SFC Energy AG fuel cells are based on DMFC (Direct Methanol Fuel Cell) technology, others on PEMFC (Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell) technology. An environmentally friendly catalytic process is used to convert the methanol directly and efficiently into power without interim stages. As a result, this technology represents one of the cleanest options for generating power.
With a weight of 6-8 kg (13-18 lbs) and dimensions of 448 x 198 x 275 mm (17,6 x 7,8 x 10,8 in), the EFOY & EFOY Pro fit into any control cabinet and are easy to transport.
The EFOY & EFOY Pro Fuel Cell can be monitored and controlled via a modem. It notifies the user of upcoming fuel cartridge replacements, ensures planning safety and reduces the need for administration and maintenance.
Batteries have very limited autonomy. Whether in a vehicle, on a construction site or in a control cabinet, if an application is supplied only by batteries, frequent battery changes and therefore the costs of keeping the application running are extremely high. With an EFOY Pro Fuel Cell, deep discharges of batteries can be avoided, increasing the possible length of autonomous operation by many times, whilst minimising downtime and maintenance and thereby considerably reducing costs.
