Power supply for a climate-neutral business park
To the reference report
To ensure radio network operation for installation personnel during the construction phase of EnBW’s largest offshore wind farm, “He Dreiht,” in the North Sea, b.offshore GmbH designed, built, and deployed self-sufficient energy containers. Those three containers have been strategically placed at different locations within the wind farm to support the radio network. They are positioned on the transition piece—the section connecting the turbine’s foundation to its tower, which supports the nacelle and rotor blades. This transition piece is located at water level.
In order to guarantee a continuous power supply for a period of around 1.5 years, an self sufficient energy source had to be installed in addition to a storage unit and the solar system. So it is able to provide the telecommunication system with independent energy, even in harsh weather conditions. A major challenge was to integrate the four MT60 fuel cartridges of each fuel cell in such a way that they are easily accessible and easy to exchange.
The EFOY Pro 12000 Duo is the ideal power supply solution for this application.
“The EFOY energy solution offers an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional diesel generators and impresses with its environmentally friendly power generation.”
The high scalability and weather independence as well as the long autonomy times and simple system integration make the EFOY Fuel Cells the ideal power generator for our project. .

Each energy container is equipped with a hybrid system consisting of a solar system combined with three EFOY Pro 12000 Duo Fuel Cells and four MT60 EFOY Fuel Cartridges. The EFOY Pro 12000 Duo Fuel Cells with a maximum output power of 1.5 kW automatically and reliably take over the energy supply of the system, especially in times of low sunlight, such as in winter. This energy is stored in the container’s battery system and forwarded to the radio system in the transition piece (TP) as required. This ensures a continuous and weather independent power supply for the communication system, which delivers a peak power of up to 3 kW.
The hybrid energy containers consisting of solar and fuel cell technology offer safe and environmentally friendly power generation for remote areas such as offshore wind farms. The high autonomy time and minimal maintenance requirements ensure smooth operation. This system offers a sustainable alternative to conventional diesel generators, contributing to green energy generation even in challenging environments.
