Power supply for stand-alone antenna stations

Helmholtz Enterprise supports technology transfer projects with the goal of bringing research results into practice. Fluxtec is a startup project from the Helmholtz Centre Pots- dam in Germany. The core competences of fluxtec include gas analytic for geothermal exploration and monitoring, which are also suitable for the monitoring of gas storage facilities or for the development of modern early warning systems for geological hazards in areas with volcanic and seismic activ- ity. The startup is involved in various geothermal projects with international partners from industry and science
As part of the project "Transport of Magmatic Volatiles and Implication for Georesources and Geohazards", a CO₂ monitoring station was installed in the Hellisheiði geothermal field in Iceland. The system will monitor the natural gas emissions over a period at least 12 months. The measurements focus in particular on carbon dioxide, soil temperature and soil humidity. Fluxtec has the goal to assess the dependence between gas emissions at the Earth’s surface and subsurface fluid migration, for example along active fault zones. The collected data are compared with meteorological, seismic and production data from the nearby geothermal power plant. At the selected location, there is no access to any existing power supply. In addition, the environment is very challenging to the equipment because of strong winds, rain, as well as snow and ice in the winter months.
“The great advantage of such a system is the reliable power supply in any environment.”
We can now decide where to install our measuring system without any restrictions. This gives us the flexibility we need to work for our partners and customers.

The EFOY Pro 2800, the latest fuel cell generation, is the ideal power supply solution for this application.
Modern gas monitoring requires a reliable power supply system that works even in difficult terrain and rough environments. Fluxtec uses the energy solution EFOY ProCube 2060A with an integrated EFOY Pro 2400 Duo, the predecessor of the EFOY Pro 2800. The fuel cell is operated by a hybrid system of four solar panels of 90 Wp each and is complemented by a wind turbine.
The EFOY Pro guarantees a reliable power supply in any environment. With EFOY Pro Fuel Cells, fluxtec can decide without any limitations where measuring systems will be installed. This gives enormous flexibility for the work with partners and customers.
